LESSON ~ㄹ/을 생각이다. (be thinking about V-ing)
SAMPLE SENTENCES:
→ 대학을 졸업하자마자 바로 취직할 생각입니다.
(I'm thinking about getting a job right after I graduate college.)
→ 눈이 와서 오늘은 집에 나가지 않을 생각이에요.
(I'm not planning to go out to day because it snowed.)
→ 20년뒤에 고향에 가서 살 생각이야.
(I am planning to live in my hometown after 20 years.)
EXPLANATION:
Verb stem + 을/ㄹ 생각이다 is used as an action verb ending, expressing whether someone has a plan or thought of doing an action.
➤‘-ㄹ 생각이다' is added to a verb stem without a 받침(consonant at the lower part of a syllable.)
(I am thinking about travelling next month.)
ex:
다음 달쯤 에 여행 갈 생각이에요.➤‘-을 생각이다' is added to a verb stem with a 받침
ex:
오늘 밤에 책을 읽을 생각이에요.
(I am thinking about reading a book tonight.)
SAMPLE CONVERSATION:
Dad: 유진아, 친구들이랑 만난다며, 왜 책 보고 있어?
(Yujin, I thought you are going out to meet your friends. Why are you reading a book?)

Yujin: 아... 오늘 눈이 많이 와서 못 만날것 같아요.
(Uhm… I think we can't meet because it snowed a lot today.)
Dad: 그래? 좀 이따 엄마랑 스키장 갈 생각인데, 같이 갈래?
(Oh, is that so? Your mom and I are thinking about going to the ski resort a little later. Will you come with us?)
Yujin: 정말요. 저도 스키 타고 싶어요. 같이 가도 될까요?
(Really? I want to go skiing. May I go with you?)
Dad: 그래. 그럼 엄마 집에 오면 갈수 있도록 준비하고 있어.
(Of course. The get ready to go once your mom comes home)
Yujin: 네, 아빠.
